The Problem
Highlighting the challenge of the every day African people.
Data
In today's Africa, when considering data, we think of demographic insights, action monitoring, and conversion. We use data as indicators to measure and validate the systems we built and to predict patterns. It is okay to use data this way. However, there is a powerful facet to data. Data is a creative weapon to integrate with the creative process of ideation and iteration of every human experience.
The lack of integrated data in African societies poses a threat to data-aware solutions and the speed of innovation. Data should be infused in every moment in our life, in an easy, natural, and unintrusive way.
Security
Security poses a concern for humans for as long as any civilization. Insecurity threatens people, social infrastructure and resources and that can foster the growth of an economy.
Security organisations build solutions that primarily serve as guards against threats and attacks on humans and properties but can't preemptively foretell an area of security concern.
To be able to do this, a security design around human comfort will be a priority.
Health
Every human deserves access to affordable and quality health care. Health care in Subsaharan African remains the worst globally. With challenges ranging from lack of adequate investment in the health sector, shortage of health workers, counterfeit drugs, poor management to access, and affordability.
Africans could leverage technology and other innovative solutions to provide access to affordable health care.
Wealth Distribution
Poverty in Africa is on the rise and the continent is rapidly growing to become the epicenter of global extreme poverty.
Nonetheless, the richest Africans are growing richer by the minute, and the poorest are poorer. Africa is the second most unequal continent globally and home to seven of the most unequal countries.
There is a direct correlation between the uneven distribution of wealth and access to essential services, thereby lowering the opportunities to break free from poverty..
Implementing strategies and initiatives geared towards improving the quality of education, reducing earning disparity, and fostering inclusive growth will be critical to driving the prosperity of Africans.
Education
Education in Africa has seen an improvement in out-of-school numbers in recent years. The rising issue that isn't making the news is the teaching method that prepares children for the workforce of today and the future. Children lack access to up-to-date syllabuses, practicing tutors, or a chance to showcase their skills. Moreso, most educational curricula are not in line with global standards. This crisis carries high costs into the future of our continent.
Leveraging technology and providing access to quality, standardised and affordable education while equipping the youths with skills required for the future is instructive to transforming the African experience.
