Lack of services in Africa has put a damper on the exploration boom. Metals needed for electric cars and renewable energy are in great demand, so mining companies expand into Africa. The growing interest in Africa's minerals exposes a mismatch between supply and global demand.

Expanding and discovering new mineral sources must be paired with innovations that are backed by human-centered design aimed at enriching African societies.
